Arjen Robben wants huge salary increase to join Manchester United

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben wants a huge salary increase to join Manchester United, according to The Metro.

If reports are to be believed, Dutch coach Louis van Gaal who looks set to become the clubs new manager in the near future is desperate to bring Robben to Old Trafford in the up coming market.

Manchester United could offer the German giants as much as £25 million in order to land the winger this summer.

However, with Robben earning as much as £160,000- a-week at Bayern, it appears that the player would only sign for United if he was offered a huge payincrease. At 30-years-old, the Dutch international is approaching the twilight years of his career and would have to make do without Champions Leaguefootball at The Theatre of Dreams.

It remains to be seen, however, as to whether Manchester United will step up their interest in the superstar in the coming weeks, but their immediateattention will turn to appointing Van Gaal as manager.

Manchester United fans will be hoping a deal with Van Gaal can be concluded in the near future, so the club can concentrate on transfer activity.(GivemeSport)

Manchester United favourites to sign Cesc Fabregas

Manchester United appear to be favourites to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, at least with the bookmakers anyway.

According to the latest transfer odds from SkyBet, the Red Devils are now listed as evens to sign the Spaniard before the summer transfer deadline, with Arsenal Fabregas former club having drifted out to 12/1.

Manchester City are also at 12/1, with Chelseas chances of completing a deal obviously considered slightly more unlikely at 16/1.

Next on the list of possible destinations is Liverpool at 20/1, while the quartet of Tottenham, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are all priced at 25/1.

Fabregas future at Barcelona appears to have been subject to considerable doubt for some time now, with rumours suggesting that the Catalan giants were prepared to listen to offers for his services this summer.

Although he is yet to be formally appointed as Manchester Uniteds new permanent manager, Louis van Gaal is widely expected to take the reins at OldTrafford this week and you have to assume that the Dutchmans impressive track record and considerable reputation in the game will make it far easier for the club to attract a higher-caliber oftransfer target.

Central midfield is also a particular area of the current Manchester United squad that will require immediate attention from Van Gaal, with the likes of Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick having performed poorly throughout a turbulent 2013/14 campaign under David Moyes.

Fabregas who is rated at around the £45 million mark would be an expensive purchase, but one thatwould surely help elevate Manchester United back into title contention(GMS)

Yaya Sanogo

Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo took a swipe at Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on Twitter ahead of the clubs FA Cup final win over Hull City this weekend.

The Daily Star on Sunday reports how the 21-year- old Frenchman introduced as a second half substitute at Wembley taunted the Portuguese tactician for his failure to deliver a single trophy during his first season of a second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Earlier this year, Mourinho caused a stir when describing Arsene Wenger as aspecialist in failure,

but its the Gunners boss who had the last laugh after guiding Arsenal to a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory.

It was quite a gamble taken by the former Auxerre star in the build-up to the showpiece final though, and after Arsenal found themselves 2-0 down inside the opening 10 minutes he probably wished hed never posted the message.

Last tweet bfore history, who would have guess we wld be in this position 1 month ago ? So José how much trophy did you get this year ? he tweeted.

Thankfully for Sanogo the Gunners hit back with goals from Santi Cazorla, Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey, ending the north London clubs nine-year spell without a trophy.{GMS}

Phil Jones: England can win the World Cup

Phil Jone§

England defender Phil Jones has insisted Roy Hodgsons side are good enough to win the World Cup.

The 22-year-old continues to make good progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury and joined up with other members of the squad for the England Footballers Foundation charity dinner on Sunday night Roy Hodgsons squad fly out to Portugal on Monday for a five-day training camp ahead of a pre-World Cupfriendly with Peru on May 30 and Jones is adamant that confidence within the squad is high.

There is a real buzz about what is going to be a fantastic tournament and all the lads are excited about it, Jones told Sky Sports News.

Well go in there with a great belief and confidence about ourselves. We know that if we play at our best then on any day we can beat any team.

Theres no point getting on the plane unless we think we are going to go far and who knows maybe we can win the tournament.

But were all confident and looking forward to the tournament.

Leighton Baines is expected to start at left-back in Englands World Cup opener against Italy next month, but says nobody has a guaranteed place in the side.

At this level, in the company you are in, in terms of the players, I think it would be foolish for anyone to think that theyre guaranteed to start a game, he said.

I think all the players will want to beright at it and fight for the place from the get-go.

The managers recent comments that we are not among the favourites to win the competition were right. Were not, but were excited by some of theplayers that have been included in the squad.

That has got a lot of people in the nation a bit more excited about our possibilities, so well go out there with that and hopefully we can do well.

England captain Steven Gerrard has also insisted there is real belief in the squad that they can do well in Brazil.

Gerrard said: I think (low expectations) can help but theres no harm in dreaming. Us players dream as well, you always say to yourself what if, what if it does happen and you prove all the doubters wrong and you go on to have a successful World Cup?

So theres no harm in dreaming but the reality is that there are a lot of top teams going to this World Cup. Itsa very difficult competition but theres excitement and belief in the squad they we can do well.

Its for real now. Its not far away and the preparations start (Monday) when we get over to Portugal and do our first training session. Theres certainly a lot ofexcitement and belief in the squad.(SKY)

We received the papers for the house and even keys but since that presentation, we have not been contacted by any official as regards what next.

Zaharadeen added: We are most grateful to the Governor for this gift, but to be honest the waiting is really killing. We are very anxious and so too our families.
